This is a tricky subject I would like to discuss on my blog section sometime. But here's an interesting view.
A great point is made in this video, that point is that we have two great teachers (David Platt and Francis Chan). And their messages are soooo convicting. We become emotional, we confess Christ and we accept the message. However, do we do anything after that? Does that message change the workings, the physical nature of our lives and our attitudes?
We need to be careful to not be deceived into thinking that just because we cried as we watched a certain convicting message, it has somehow changed us and made us more holy to hear. Our holiness, and change comes from the action that takes place after the message because of the message. Most importantly that action comes about because of obedience to Christ and because we love and want to cling to him. Are you willing to pay the costs of true discipleship to Christ? See Luke 14:26-27 & Luke 14:33
If you believe that you are saved, and you turn your back on God and feel no shame or guilt then maybe you should consider if you have truly been convicted by the Holy Spirit and are truly born again in Christ. Because when you are saved, Scripture says that you become a new creature! The supernatural works of the Holy Spirit convict your heart to flee from sin like it is the plague. Of course, we won't be perfect and it takes time and it isn't easy, but we are different than what we were before we came to Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Amen!
